Safe Update allows you to upgrade your program over a web
link
securely and
automatically.
Safe Update is just the template you need when you want your
apps to update themselves automatically, either from the web or a local server.
It has been designed to be quick and easy and requires no extra coding.
Auto-updating can be a problem because you need to make sure
that the update being downloaded is the genuine article and not a malicious
file instead. To overcome this, Safe Update includes security in the form
of digital signatures appended to both your Update File and the Version file.
Safe Update can also be used for storing and retrieving any
signed or unsigned files from local or remote sites.

- No extra distribution files needed unless uploading is needed.
- Use your own personal digital certificate to sign files.
- Safe Update Signatures are industry-standard and can be verified by
other applications.
- Client/Server technology provides you with an authorization channel
for downloading an upgrade, that will be "fed" to each client instance.
Safe Update 2 introduces new Client/Server updating functionality. This
allows the Safe Update Server to download updates, which are then
distributed to all client application on the LAN using a direct TCP/IP
connection. It also provides automated notification to running clients to
allow them to close down and restart when a new update is available,
ensuring that all instances of the client application on the network are the
same version. Client applications download and install updates at startup,
ensuring that they are always running the latest version.
Safe Update 2 is now based on CapeSoft
CryptoNite
and
StringTheory. This means that your installs are a lot more safer and
free from potential site hackers.
Safe Update 2 provides a new set of streamlined classes; numerous
performance improvements and bug fixes; and additional templates and
template options.

Note: Safe Update 1 users can still continue to use Safe Update 1, and
download the installs from SafeUpdate1
