Developing Web Applications

    Introduction
NetTalk has become the most used, most mature, and most
feature-rich accessory for creating web applications using Clarion. In
continuous development since 2005, it has grown and changed as the web has
grown and changed. It is an extraordinary template chain covering all
aspects of web development. Not surprisingly though, given the sheer scope
of what it does, it comes with a substantial learning curve. The goal of
this book is to shorten that curve, delivering a wealth of knowledge in a
      single place.

This book originally accompanied the World-Wide-Webshop 2-day training
classes of 2010. It was substantially updated, and extended, for the 2013
NetTalk and 2017 Training in Orlando. The 4th edition has been updated to
cover NetTalk 12 as at late 2022. It covers all aspects of developing and
deploying a web application, or Web Services API server using the NetTalk
      framework.

The first quarter of the book introduces a novice to their first web
server application. It assumes no existing knowledge of NetTalk, or indeed
web applications in general. It is provided in a tutorial format that
walks through the various parts of building an application from nothing to
      deployment.

The middle of the book delves into the templates in more depth, and also
covers related topics like Security, Deployment and so on.

This is followed by an in-depth exploration of constructing an API server.

The final quarter of the book deals with advanced topics, PWA Application
development, Disconnected Apps, NetTalk internal architectures and so on.

Note this book is currently available only in PDF format.

The book is 432 pages long.

What the Readers Say
I also bought the NetTalk book. I
have to say that I was thinking that the book should be included with
the software as I was paying for it. Now that I am reading it I have to
say that it is worth every penny. I can see the care and effort you put
into it. I appreciate the whole “hold the beginners hand” approach
because that is exactly what I needed to confront this topic at all. The
internet is to me a very broad generality and you have distilled the
aspects that are important to getting a web app up and running. -

I have had great benefit from reading this book. After
a few hours of reading, I moved from a 4 to an 8 (out of 10) - both in
using NetTalk templates but also to understand and use CSS, etc. Great
book to get started with NetTalk and do a some business - fast. -

I recommend this book to anyone wanting to get working
with NetTalk Web Server. - Chris Cordes
