Why "another" Office product you might ask? Primarily because for the first time Clarion is now able to access COM components without the performance / stability hits we experienced in the past. With those obstacles out of the way, there is now room for a product that makes it really easy to implement Office functionality into your apps without having to spend substantial amounts of time learning new technologies or tweaking your code. Want to add spell-checking?Two minutes. Want to generate editable Word documents from all your existing reports? Two minutes. Drop it in, and compile. When new versions of MS Office are released, download the latest version of Office Inside, recompile, and ship. That's why!

• Take control of Microsoft Office from your app.  No stability issues, no learning curve, no "funny" data types, no worries.  At this time you can automate:

New Features included in Office Inside 3

• Entirely new Report Output engine creates well formatted excel reports and intelligent cell placement.
• Generic Objects that give you the power to do a lot of functionality that was not exposed previously (a lot of stuff under the hood that make Office Inside a lot more power and give us the foundation to add functionality moving forward).
• Multi Document support, allowing multiple documents to be handled and opened simultaneously, switched between, modified etc. using a  single object (this is still WIP in the first release)
• A new utility class and printing methods for listing all printers on the system and allows more control over the printout.
• Vastly improved performance (report processing speed, document interaction, etc)

• New Mail Merge with extended functionality. Extends the existing Mail Merge and exposes additional functionality and options, provides access to both the source and destination documents etc.
• Custom Template based "Mail Merge". Provides rapid and simple mail merge style document creation without using Word's Mail Merge facility.
• New Spell Checking objects and templates, for faster, more reliable and more powerful spell checking and full C7 support.
• Excel Import and Export wizards and control templates for rapidly creating user interaction import/export interfaces for all formats supported by Excel.
• Query style access to Outlook data, allows database style access to Outlook data, synchronisation, location of specific items by their field values and more.
• Additional performance improvements across the board
• New examples and documentation for the new Generic Objects, which expose the Office object model directly through a simple interface.

What happens to Office Inside 2?

We will still be supporting Office Inside 2 - and if you are still wanting to remain on that version, you can download from: http://www.capesoft.com/accessories/downloads.htm#officeinside2 and use your existing SAF code to unlock the install.
